Back to Photography

Hello everyone!

I am excited to say that I am back at taking photos on a semi-regular basis. I hope to be freelancing more and taking photos groups, friends, and events.  I will spend this post on what photos I have been taking in recent times. Plus, I will enlighten everyone on the kind of projects that I am jumpig into!

Over the last 6 months or so, I have taken photos in 3 different genres.  First, I find myself being drawn back to the roots of nature.  It is quite cleansing and freeing to spend time amongst the trees.  So while in New Mexico, where can someone go to find an abundance of greenery? To the Jemez Mountains!

Gymnastics Pictures – Flip N’ Twist: Girl Power Invitational 2009

Yesterday and today, I worked with CO Photos in the Photo booth at a gymnastics meet at the Girl Power Invitational up in Hamilton, Ohio.  We were a little slow this morning, so I was able to take the camera for about 10 minuts and fire off some shots of a few girls of their routine on the floor.  Here are a few pictures:

Student Attendance at NKU Athletic events

For this week’s issue of The Northerner, I took the assignment for a story concerning student attendance at athletic events. In fact, my instructions from my photo editor included the following: photos during an NKU game, get photos of the student sections, the story talks about how students do go to NKU games, we want to see empty seats to illustrate the story.
I attended a men’s basketball game on Saturday, January 24 of a home game of NKU versus Quincy. It was at the Bank of Kentucky Center, which seats around 9400 people. I myself wasn’t helping the cause since this is the first game I had been to for this season and it’s for a story.

Whenever I arrive at an event to take pictures, I try to take general pictures of the environment first just to get those out of my system. Then I start looking for details and then even closer to the focus of the story. How can I take picture that can help tell the story?

I had my wide lens on and decided to go to the top of the arena, which got this picture showing a very grim student section.

Students not attending home games

Student attendance this season has not improved despite a new arena and nationally ranked teams.
